With over two decades of experience, I've witnessed the industry's evolution from manual server racking and bare-metal provisioning to cloud-native orchestration and serverless architectures. Through every paradigm shift, one principle has remained constant: the best software is invisible. It works so well that users never think about it. It performs so efficiently that infrastructure costs stay predictable. It's built so cleanly that the next engineer can extend it without deciphering a maze of workarounds.
My career has spanned high-frequency trading platforms handling millions of transactions per second, distributed systems managing petabytes of data across global regions, and embedded firmware running on hardware with kilobytes of memory. The common thread is an obsession with understanding the full stack—from silicon to user interface—and making deliberate choices about where complexity belongs and where it doesn't.
